The artist and cultural scientist graduated in 2004 from the class for visual media design and digital art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. From 2005 to 2010 he did research for his PhD thesis on the symbolic culture of temporary, fluid and globalised communities and in 2011 received his doctorate (Dr.phil.) in cultural sociology and media theory. Since 1994 he works as an active media artist under several pseudonyms and collectives with exhibitions, art actions and digital performances. Together with Cölestine Engels and Christof Berthold he founded the interdisciplinary collective mitumBACK in 2008, which aims at rendering comprehensible globalized knowledge transfer through artistic practice.
Born 1978 in Salzburg, he studied Ethnology, Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna where he received his master degree in anthropology with specialization in migration- and globalization studies in 2008. In 2011, after several years of doctoral research on 2nd Hand Economy and the global production of meanings, he started working in the NGO sector and as a freelance journalist. He is a founding member of the interdisciplinary collective mitumBACK and realized the project of the same name, which deals with the global trade of 2nd hand clothing and the genesis of meaning and consumer behavior at the intersection of art and science.
